Toronto Quality Certificate Program

The majority of the community colleges in the GTA and surrounding areas offer ASQ Toronto’s Toronto Quality Certificate Program. The program was designed by the ASQ Toronto Education committee to provide students with a broad base foundation in quality; a theoretical and practical knowledge of quality assurance and to develop a “well rounded quality professional/practitioner”. It covers topics set out in bodies of knowledge (BOKs) for the ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) which are generically called the ‘CQX’. Note that this certificate programs are NOT intended to prepare students for a certification examination. Refer to Refresher course information under Certification information. By studying past exams, attending refresher course or participating in study groups will significantly improve student’s performance in their final certification examinations.

Basic and Advanced Certificates are awarded, based on successful completion of the program courses, as described below. Courses taken and successfully completed at any of the colleges are accepted by each of the colleges towards your certificate. These programs are usually offered in sets of fourteen or fifteen-week evening courses, as determined by each college. Some Colleges offer day courses.

The program starts with the subject “Quality Concepts” and subsequent courses build on the information learned. There are pre-requisites for subsequent courses to support the process so that the learning experience is optimized. With education and work experience criteria met, the quality professional and practitioner has a further option to complete certification examinations offered by ASQ, to receive designation as a “Certified Quality …. “ . There are a number of certifications offered (e.g. Quality Technician, Auditing, Engineering, Management, Reliability and Software) and more information can be obtained by going to www.asq.org.
